It’s never too late to create a new chapter of who you are and how your life will go.

About

Austin Counseling Center for Women and Families

Welcome to the Austin Counseling Center for Women and Families. Hello, I’m Dr. Julianne Massimo, and I would like to welcome you in taking the first step to feeling more like yourself, or the self you would like to become. The Austin Counseling Center was established in Fairlawn, Ohio to bring comprehensive mental health services for issues related to reproductive health including pregnancy loss, infertility, postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders and changing family/relationship roles.

At the ACCWF, we work with individuals across the lifespan, from teens to seniors, to help cope with grief, depression, anxiety and other mental health concerns while trying to balance life and all of its challenges.

Women certainly are not the only ones who experience distress. The Austin Counseling Center is also for men and gender-expansive individuals. The Austin Counseling Center serves adults and teens, and is inclusive and LGBTQ+ affirming.

It’s never too late to write a new story of who you are and how your life will go.

Postpartum Depression.

The Austin Counseling Center for Women & Families (ACCWF) specializes in outpatient therapy for women who are pregnant, postpartum, experiencing pregnancy loss, dealing with infertility or difficult birth outcomes.

The ACCWF specializes in dealing with loss, grief, anxiety, and depression. We provide grief counseling to help heal and move the complicated emotions of grief to find hope again after loss. We also help with other concerns such as dealing with relationships, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, life transitions, and geriatric concerns.

Individuals with DD experience distress and mental health symptoms at a higher rate than the general population.  Yet few mental health specialists receive training or feel qualified to work with individuals with DD.  The ACCWF provides specialized services in mental health counseling, behavioral support, and training for DSP staff.

This wasn’t how your story was supposed to go!

Are you struggling with trying to feel like yourself again? Whether you are coping with the unimaginable, dealing with loss and grief, experiencing depression or anxiety, transitioning into a new role or trying to balance it all, you may find yourself asking “Why is this so hard?”. It’s so much work to keep up the façade when you’re not okay.

There is so much pressure on women to try and do it all and be wonderful moms at the same time. Sometimes social media makes it so much worse. You may be feeling that you are the only one going through this, and that you just want to feel like yourself again.

You are not alone!

The Austin Counseling Center provides a warm, inviting environment in which you will be listened to without judgment in privacy. We provide the best evidence-based, trauma-informed therapy to help you heal and move through. I’m honored to begin this journey with you to help you realize your full potential. In all your focus and caregiving for others, it’s easy to forget that you matter, too!

INCLUSION STATEMENT

Austin Counseling Center for Women and Families continues to use the traditional terms “mother”, “pregnant woman”, and “maternal.” However, we are also embracing the inclusive language of “birthing person/people” across our work recognizing that transgender and nonbinary people who do not identify as women can also get pregnant and deliver babies. We feel that a move toward inclusive language does not mean that we should stop using language that so many people identify with, including cisgender women. Language evolves, and words matter. We believe that at its core, inclusion is about creating more space for one another including men, fathers, and non-pregnant partners. We are taking care to expand the use of these terms in our communications, on our website, in our materials, and eventually, in all our projects.  Providing comprehensive and accessible mental health care includes broadening gender-neutral and affirming language.  This evolution is another aspect of ACCWF’s commitment to equity in all forms, including race, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability.
